Job Description Job Description /n *Temporary role /n Operates
Computed Tomography (CT) equipment, prepares patients for
examination, and captures appropriate imaging and information for
Physician review and diagnosis. /n Job Responsibility /n /n
1.Prepares patient for examination. /n Explains procedure in layman
terms to relieve any potential anxiety. /n Performs thorough
screening of patients prior to procedure. /n Ensures required
consent forms have been obtained. /n Positions patient on exam
table within gantry. Utilizes special devices (i.e. bromide shield)
to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas
(i.e. breast, thyroid, etc.). /n 2.Sets up equipment to administer
proper procedure in a timely fashion. /n Calculates number of scans
to be obtained, ensuring required images are obtained according to
Radiologist order. /n Adjusts CT equipment to capture appropriate
field of view. Ensures proper slice thickness and couch increment.
In collaboration with Radiologist, extends parameters within
established imaging protocols, if needed. /n 3.Administers
intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents according to Radiologist
order. /n Explains the administration of IV contrast to patient. /n
Confirms there are no contraindications to administration of IV
contrast agent. /n Completes IV Contrast Information Sheet with
information provided by patient, family member or health care
proxy. /n Calculates contrast dose based on patient’s weight. /n
Performs venipuncture of appropriate gauge necessary for
examination. /n Utilizes appropriate flush technique for existing
IV line, if needed, and utilizes power injector to administer IV
contrast. /n Recognizes and assists in treatment of contrast agent
reactions and IV extravasations. /n 4.Performs CT procedures
(abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities,
sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment
planning, biopsies, etc.). /n 5.Transmits cases to Radiologist
through teleradiology system. /n 6.Performs related duties as

functions. /n Job Qualification /n Vocational or Technical school
Diploma, required. /n Current license to practice as a Radiology
Technologist in New York State, required. /n Certification in IV
Contrast Administration, required within six (6) months of entry
date into position. /n Current ARRT Radiology registration,
required. /n ARRT registration in Computed Tomography (CT),
required within eighteen (18) months of entry date into position.
/n Basic Cardiac Life Support certification, required. /n 1-3 years
of technical experience, required. /n Hospital CT experience,
preferred. /n *Temporary role. /n *Additional Salary Detail /n The
