Description Art Program Specialist Camp Seagull at Larchmont Yacht Club Larchmont, New York Summer 2026 Seasonal Position $18.00 to $22.00 per hour Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm Reports to: Camp Director About Larchmont Yacht Club and Camp Seagull Set on 11 waterfront acres along Long Island Sound, Larchmont Yacht Club is widely recognized for its sailing tradition, family focus, and vibrant summer culture. Just outside New York City, the Club offers a dynamic seasonal environment where children learn, grow, and build confidence. Camp Seagull is the cornerstone of our youth programming. Designed for children from preschool through 4th grade, the camp blends sailing, swimming, sports, creative arts, and outdoor exploration into a well-rounded summer experience. Our creative arts programming plays a central role in helping campers express themselves, develop fine motor skills, and build confidence in a supportive setting. We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Art Program Specialist who is excited to lead hands-on, engaging creative experiences for young children. Position Summary The Art Program Specialist designs and leads daily visual arts programming for campers ages preschool through 4th grade. This role is ideal for art teachers, early childhood educators, art education students, studio instructors, and creative professionals seeking a meaningful summer opportunity. You will create developmentally appropriate projects that encourage imagination, skill building, and self-expression. Successful candidates bring strong classroom management skills, a thoughtful approach to working with young children, and the ability to balance structure with creative freedom. This is an opportunity to apply your teaching or instructional background in a high-quality camp setting with a consistent weekday schedule and a beautiful waterfront campus. Key Responsibilities Design and implement a structured, age-appropriate arts curriculum for preschool and elementary-age campers Lead engaging projects in drawing, painting, mixed media, crafts, and other visual art forms Adapt instruction to meet the developmental needs and attention spans of younger children Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where all campers feel comfortable expressing themselves Teach foundational art concepts while encouraging creativity and exploration Maintain an organized, safe, and well-stocked art space Collaborate with fellow specialists and counselors to integrate art into broader camp themes and activities Participate in staff orientation, training, meetings, and special camp events Communicate effectively with camp leadership regarding materials, scheduling, and camper engagement Ideal Background We welcome candidates with experience in: Early childhood or elementary art education Classroom teaching Studio art instruction Youth enrichment programs Camp or recreational programming This position is particularly attractive for teachers looking for a summer role aligned with their professional expertise, graduate students in art education or child development, and creative instructors who enjoy working with younger age groups.
