Job Description Job Description Position Summary : Involved with multiple projects, the Senior Project Manager (SPM) supports program management and project portfolio management by providing a big-picture perspective to ensure that each construction project is in line with strategic business and client objectives. Additionally, an SPM ensures the identification and procurement of necessary resources, estimates project budgets, sets project scopes and schedules, delivers specified products and services, provides a high level of oversight of the multiple construction site(s), monitors quality and cost parameters and maintains close contact with clients. The SPM provides leadership by building project teams and motivates them to hit project milestones. They participate in building and training project teams to expand their capabilities by establishing best practices, policies, PM methodologies, quality assurance and control, tools and templates. Advocates for learning, process improvement and project management in the company. Essential Duties/Major Responsibilities : Collaborate with stakeholders to document project scope, deliverables, goals, risks, blockers, success measures and estimated resources needed. Ensure that projects remain in-scope and meet budgetary, scheduling and quality requirements. Create, manage and distribute project communications artifacts like charters, schedules and budgets. Provide project status updates at predetermined time intervals to all stakeholders. Communicate routinely to management, clients, project team members and other stakeholders, actively soliciting and addressing client and project team feedback. Assist business development efforts to create project proposals, RFPs, estimates, schedules. Set and monitor project budgets and staffing requirements. Ensure adherences to legally binding requirements. Plan, schedule, monitor and report on activities related to the project, including subcontractor monitoring Establish key project criteria metrics. Develop project control and reporting procedures and manage changes in operational plan. Plan and lead status effective review meetings, which may include internal team members, vendors and clients (excellent meeting, workshop and conference facilitation skills) with proven knowledge of how to foster attendee participation and collaboration. Train, manage and motivate the project team, as well as resolving team conflicts. Bring positive, can-do attitude with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced work environment. Resolve technical and operational issues, as required. Strong grasp of current communication, project tracking and budget management software. Education, Experience and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in project management, architecture, business management or related area of study, is preferred but not mandatory. 5 to 7 years of experience as a Project Manager (at large scale construction or renovation projects in large urban area) or similar position responsible for defining and managing project scope, timelines, profitability and effective delivery of products or services Intermediate to advanced proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software programs Special Requirements: Valid New York driver’s license 40 Hour OSHA Card 62 Hour SST Any other pertinent construction site accreditations Work Environment: While Senior Project Managers may spend most of their time in the office, site visits and completing work at the sites is necessary. The job often involves the following: Sometimes work indoors in an office, or outdoors at a construction site. May be exposed to sounds and noise levels, such as from earth-moving and construction related equipment, that are distracting and uncomfortable. Wear protective equipment often, such as hard hats, work boots, gloves, masks, etc. when on construction site. Exposed to hot or cold temperatures, depending on the weather. Sometimes exposed to hazardous equipment. May work close to other people, such as when sharing office space. Often work in buildings without heating or air conditioning, such as portable trailers or unfinished structures. Regularly visit job sites in a car and truck (using their vehicle as a traveling office). Work more than 40 hours per week, when required. May work nights and weekends. Construction may sometimes continue around the clock to meet deadlines.
